JYSK relies on solar energy: Kammlach's logistics center goes green!
In a significant step towards sustainable energy supply, Energy Partners GmbH from Traunstein has successfully implemented its first project with the Danish furniture giant JYSK SE. In Kammlach, Bavaria, a powerful photovoltaic system with 750 kilowatt peak was installed on the roof of the logistics center there. This center plays a key role in supplying JYSK branches in several European countries, including Germany, France, Italy, Austria and Switzerland. From now on, the logistics center will be supplied with green electricity, which will be used for its own needs. Matthias Giller, Managing Director of Energy Partners, emphasizes: “The system was designed for optimal self-consumption in order to reduce CO2 emissions and cover JYSK's energy needs efficiently and sustainably,” as highlighted in a report by APA-OTS.
By installing the photovoltaic system, which is part of a comprehensive sustainability strategy, JYSK is pursuing the goal of drastically reducing the use of fossil fuels. According to JYSK, the sustainability strategy “A great offer for generations” was launched in October 2024. This initiative aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 50.4% by 2032. Morten Venborg Hansen, Director of Logistics Projects at JYSK, explains that solar energy is a proven technology that is not only environmentally friendly but also a profitable investment. In the best case scenario, the solar systems can cover up to 30% of the distribution centers' total annual energy consumption, which further supports the company's strategic goals. The success of the collaboration is underpinned by two additional projects already being planned, which also include solar projects, as reported on the JYSK website.
