Dangerous noise: Why loud toys threatens to hear damage!
Arbeiterkammer, Österreich - The Chamber of Labor has tested 14 popular toys on their volume in an alarming examination and published terrifying results. As reported orf.at , impressive volumes of over 80 decibels were measured at nine products at a distance. The fact that both the rolling robot with 89 decibels and the barking dog with 90 decibels are extremely loud leaves the alarm bells - for comparison: a compressed air hammer reaches about 100 decibels at a meter!
The test procedure took place under "children's room conditions", which means that it was carefully simulated how children normally deal with the toys. It is worrying that the volume could only be regulated in six of the tested products. The different maximum limits for children's toys that vary depending on the type of toy have often been exceeded. As Arbeiterkammer.at executed, toys that do not exceed sound for over 30 seconds-60 decibels-for child-proof sound sources a critical point.
health risks through noise
The Chamber of Labor urges against the health consequences of loud toys. While adults often only find the noises annoying, children are much closer to the source of the noise and can therefore suffer serious hearing damage. According to the experts, not only the volume is decisive, but also the duration of the noise pollution. Parents are therefore asked to carefully check the volume when buying toys and, in the best case, use a sound level app to identify and avoid unwanted noise sources.
