measurement and calculation of the inflation rate
The inflation rate in Austria is measured by the consumer price indices (VPI and HVPI), which represent the price changes of goods and services over time. These indices offer an important basis for value security and wage negotiations by showing the loss of money for end consumers. The monthly publication of this data takes place through statistics Austria and includes a representative selection of goods and services of an average budget in Austria, based on the hierarchically structured product nomenclature COICOP (Classification of Individual Consumpto by Purpose). This structured approach makes the data comparable and relevant for the analysis of inflation development.
The current inflation situation in Austria illustrates the continuing challenges through price increases in certain areas, while other price dynamics stabilize or even show declines.
