Electricity price scandal: Lowlings against Burgenland Energie threatens!
Burgenland Energie is currently facing a legal storm, triggered by the law firm of Georg Zanger, which brings complaints on behalf of around 2,500 customers. These legal steps took place due to significant complaints about the increase in electricity price in January 2023, which, according to Zanger, was unlawful because it was not communicated transparently. Zanger speaks of possible violations of competition and demands that the excessive electricity costs, which he estimates up to 1,500 euros per customer. Burgenland Energie, which vehemently rejects all allegations, argues that a third of the lawsuits will go into nothing, since many of the plaintiffs were not customers at the time of the price increase, as the company explained to the APA. legal steps and allegations
Georg Zanger announced that it was submitted a significant number of lawsuits by the end of the month after a comparison proposal on the part of Burgenland Energie, which included a repayment of only 200 euros. Zanger criticized that his offer was not taken seriously for a general comparison, in which a total of around 100 million euros in repayments would be made. In a last attempt, Zanger wanted to push Zanger to different comparison options, which should include reimbursement of illegally increased electricity prices for his clients. Burgenland Energie, on the other hand, sees itself legally on the safe side and points out that it has already won several complaints in similar cases.
