Revolution in Burgenland: OGH ruling forces network operators to pay back!
A significant ruling by the Supreme Court (OGH) is currently causing a lot of excitement among owners of photovoltaic systems in Austria. Loud orf.at Over 12,000 Netz Burgenland customers have already been informed that their fees for access to the electricity network will be refunded. This is done as part of the decision, which states that existing grid connections are subject to double billing during commissioning, which is the case in most newly installed PV systems.
Gerhard Altmann from Netz Burgenland explained that the refund for the affected customers will be automatic. They don't have to worry about anything because the network company takes all the necessary steps itself. The ruling, which arose from a legal dispute between Vienna-Schwechat Airport and Wiener Netze, has far-reaching consequences and gives operators of PV systems an important opportunity for repayment.
Grid access and feed-in
Capacity availability may vary due to bottlenecks in other network levels. Particularly in the case of larger generation plants, such as those planned in certain regions, network access could only be possible after further network expansion work. The grid company has therefore also announced steps to improve feed-in options, which will secure the future of renewable energies in the region.
