HTL Pinkafeld: Teachers rely on a needs-based learning world
PINK FIELD. On Friday, October 25, 2024, when there were no school lessons, an important training event for teachers took place at the HTL Pinkafeld. The focus was on the question of how this educational institution, as an “educational company for young people”, can design a learning world that meets the needs of the students. Education Director HR OSR Alfred Lehner opened the event by emphasizing the importance that all students, regardless of their social or cultural background, should have the opportunity to find the best possible educational path. This is happening within the framework of the new educational standards, which integrate many aspects of business management into the education system.
The event was enriched by two outstanding keynotes. Heinz Herzceg from the management consultancy lifeCREATOR CONSULTING GmbH presented the results of his current youth study “Youth in Austria”. He received support from the school representatives Phillip Rotheneder and Konstantin Wolf, who translated the results from a professional perspective into the context of their school. Golli Marboe, a media-experienced journalist and initiator of the “mental health days” in Austria, focused on the mental health of young people and discussed important aspects that are important for the students.
Innovative approaches to school development
Following the keynotes, the educators worked together in several World Cafe groups and during a workshop on mental health on ideas that will advance school development. These workshops were accompanied by Rosemarie Lehner and Jürgen Frentz from PH Burgenland, while the internal organization was taken over by AV Barbara Rehling, OStR Peter Derler and director Wilfried Lercher. The various group measures aim to adapt the educational institution even better to the needs of the students.
Overall, the training was a step in the right direction to design the HTL as a place of learning that meets both the academic and emotional needs of the young people. The development of such a needs-based learning environment is crucial in order to optimally prepare students for their future challenges in society and the world of work.
