New Platz of the generations: Inviting future for our village
On Friday, Mayor Paul Fercsak (SPÖ) and the local committee presented the preliminary draft for the redesign of the church square. This place, which has been almost unchanged since the 1970s, is now to be transformed into an inviting "place of the generations". The mayor emphasized that the requirements and wishes of the residents have changed over the years and that climate change also plays a role, which is why redesign is urgently needed.
"The place has long since no longer fulfilled its function as a central meeting point in the village center. Our vision is to create a climate -sized room that is attractive for all generations," explained Fercsak. As part of the presentation, the first drafts were shown that include ideas for a more generous design of the outside. The goal is not only to upgrade the space aesthetically, but also to increase the quality of experience for the villagers.

Those present had the opportunity to contribute notes and suggestions for design. Fercsak encouraged citizens to share their ideas because the redesign is understood as a joint project. It is expected that citizen participation can give important impulses for the final planning.
The designs include more green areas, seating and areas that are accessible to different generations. "A place that invites should not only offer for older people, but also for children and adolescents," continues Fercsak.
The new design could also support social cohesion in the community by offering a central point of contact for events and meetings.
The next steps in this process include the evaluation of the ideas of the citizens and the adaptation of the designs, followed by further discussions about the financing of the implementation. Apart from the financing, technical aspects must also be taken into account in order to adapt the space to the requirements of climate change. A final decision to redesign is expected in the coming months.
