Insolvency at Hauswirth: 120 employees affected in Kittsee
In Kittsee there are worrying news for the chocolate lovers and the 120 employees of Franz Hauswirth Ges.m.b.H. The bankruptcy of the regional chocolate manufacturer was announced on Tuesday. The Credit Protection Association of 1870 (KSV1870) announced that the company has opened a bankruptcy proceedings according to its own application, in which the liabilities are estimated at around 10.5 million euros.
The reasons for the bankruptcy are diverse. Increasing wage costs, retirement sales as a result of Corona pandemic and general inflation contribute to these difficulties. There is also uncertainty with regard to the number of creditors, since the KSV has not yet given any precise information.
Overview of the bankruptcy
According to KSV1870, the company itself has intended to continue to be continued as part of the insolvency proceedings. Alexander Greifeder from KSV1870 said that the insolvency administrator, Michael Wagner, will now check whether the company is continued. Otherwise a closure could be inevitable. The financing for continuation should be secured by existing bank credit and the incorporation of open claims.
The important session for examining the matter is scheduled for February 17, 2025 at the regional court in Eisenstadt. Affected creditors have time until February 3, 2025 to register their claims.
It is remarkable that the chocolate manufacturer has a long tradition. The company's roots go back until after the Second World War when the grandfather of Roman and Peter Hauswirth opened a pastry shop in Vienna, which laid the foundation stone for the later chocolate factory. The third generation company has been managed by the Roman and Peter Hauswirth brothers since 2006.
