Halb gym: A green model for quality of life and tradition
Halbturn presents itself as a lively and traditional community in the heart of the region, as the ÖVP Mayor Markus Ulram emphasizes in conversation. In recent years, the community has not only established itself as a green oasis, but also as a place where tradition and progress go hand in hand.
With over 3000 trees, the attractive landscape attracts many relaxation seekers. "The local recreation area is a green lung for all of us. Whether walkers, walkers or joggers - everyone finds their place for relaxation in nature," says Ulram. Even the youngest heavy rain, who looked for the region, hardly left any traces. Thanks to a preventive extension of the retention basin, the rainwater could be collected more effectively, so that the population remained undamaged.
big changes in elementary school
A central project for the coming years is the comprehensive renovation of the elementary school, which is planned in 2024/25 with construction costs of three million euros. The first construction work has already been completed during the summer vacation. These are renovations of four school classes and the creation of new leisure rooms. By June 2025, further additions will follow, which should include a workroom and premises for afternoon care. The number of students remains stable, which is a positive sign for the community.
"We have intensively invested in our infrastructure in recent years to offer our citizens the best possible conditions," explains Ulram. The completion of the new building sites for young families also ensures that the community remains attractive for all age groups. Despite the financial challenges resulting from deductions from the state government, the municipality remains ready to talk and future -oriented.
care of older generations and community life
Another focus is the professional care of the older generation. In the senior citizens' day, housed in the community center, senior citizens receive support from the Red Cross trained staff during the day. This enables relatives to pursue their everyday life while their loved ones are looked after in a familiar and pleasant environment.
The lively club life in the community is promoted by numerous events and annual festivals, such as the popular Tschardaken festival, which the 17th edition celebrated this year. "Not only is celebration here, but tradition is also kept alive," said Ulram. The festival in which the focus is on traditional customs such as the 'Kukuruz throwing' brings the community closer together.
"In the next five years we want to continue to expand our infrastructure and support the needs of our community," said Mayor Ulram at the end of the conversation. The stability of the municipal finances and the ongoing cohesion are of central importance for the future of half gymnastics.
