A new chapter for Edelstal: fire station and natural projects at a glance

In the small community of Edelstal, there is a significant change that will expand both the security of the citizens and the cultural possibilities. A new fire station will be built after more than 60 years of the existence of the previous facility. This measure is part of a comprehensive plan that aims to make the community more future -proof and attractive. At the same time, an urn wall in the cemetery is also created to meet the needs of the residents.

Political support is evident, because the local council unanimously approved the construction of the new fire station. According to Mayor Gerald Handig, 3.3 million euros will be invested in this project. "We expect a construction period of around 15 months, with a planned completion at the end of 2025," he said recently. The project is implemented by EcoProjekt GmbH, while the Höfer Baustudio is responsible for planning. In view of the constantly changing requirements for a modern fire brigade, a new emergency vehicle will also be obtained, which is expected to be put into service in May 2025.

The urn wall at the cemetery

Another important project in Edelstal concerns the construction of an urn wall at the cemetery. This Initiative has long been overdue and may be completed before the All Saints' Day. The creation of 26 urn boxes is planned, which should offer enough space for the burial of the deceased. "It was high time that we could offer the possibility of such burials in Edelstal," said Mayor Handig. The construction of this urn wall was approved by a majority decision in the local council and is a step in the right direction for the community.

At the same time, the municipality is pursuing the “Nature in sight” project, which is implemented in cooperation with eight other Burgenland communities. This project aims to make the place more livable for the citizens. "We are planning, among other things, the construction of a viewing platform and a natural playground," added Handig. The municipality has already started the preparatory horticultural work and the associated devices are commissioned.

The investments in Edelstal are not only a sign of progress, but also proof of the commitment of the community to offer their citizens a safe and pleasant living environment. These developments testify to a clear political will and a positive view of the future. The new fire station and the urn wall are just two facets of a comprehensive plan that aims to significantly improve the quality of life in Edelstal.
