Client: Inner price 2024: Holzhaus in Weiden am See shines with reed roof
A remarkable milestone is celebrated in Burgenland architectural history: For the first time, the “client: inner price”, a renowned award that has been awarded since 1967, was awarded to a single -family house in Burgenland. This special building is located in Weiden am See and impresses with its innovative design and a unique reed roof.
The family home, which is inhabited by Marina Rosa and Jacobus van Hoorne, is a real eye -catcher in the Neusiedl am See region. The timber construction not only has an S-shaped floor plan, but also has a strongly inclined reed roof that is not only aesthetically appealing, but also ecologically sensible. Architect Gilbert Berthold, who is responsible for planning, explains: "It is progressive because it shows the qualities and the possibilities of the reed."
innovative construction and ecological approach
The implementation of a reed roof in a built -up area was a challenge, especially for the client Jacobus van Hoorne, who himself works as a reed tailor and decor. In order to clear up the security concerns, van Hoorne carried out extensive research. In real fire attempts, he was able to prove that no fire rolling out of the roof. "We have now also developed a roof structure, without any ventilation. In the past, it was done with rear ventilation. Without this ventilation, there is no air from below and then it only delights it superficially," he explains.
This award not only recognizes the individual design, but also emphasizes the importance of sustainable construction projects. The use of natural materials such as reeds and the innovative approaches to fire security set an example of future construction projects and could have a positive impact on architecture in Burgenland.
