Free bus trips for Burgenland-Card holders: made of Stegersbach made easy!
Guests from the Graz area can look forward to a new, attractive travel offer that focuses on the Stegersbach region. This offer applies to all those who spend at least one night in a hotel or other foreign accommodation. If you reside in a partner company of the Burgenland Card, you can arrive and leave free of charge by bus in the future. This offer was particularly emphasized by Wolfgang Werderit, the managing director of the Burgenland transport company, during a presentation in Stegersbach.
The initiative is aimed at visitors from Graz, which can now enjoy the amenities of the thermal and golf region without any additional costs. The new thermal boss, Marcel Pomper, emphasized that about a quarter of the guests came from the Graz area. "Now you can take the bus right to the door of the hotels," said Pomper. The financing of this new service is covered by small surcharges in the overnight price.
Requirements for free arrival
For the use of free bus use, the prerequisite is that the night in a hotel is the partner of the Burgenland Card system. This restrictive regulation also applies to the journey from the Vienna area. However, Werderits noted that this cannot be implemented so easily due to legal provisions. It is gratifying for Burgenland-Card owners that you can also use free trips with the Burgenland call-collection taxi.
Mayor Jürgen Dolesch expressed a positive statement about the first ten months of the year, in which the number of overnight stays in Stegersbach is 4.5 percent above the previous year's level. The total number of 220,000 overnight stays will be reached by the end of the year. The community emphasizes that it continues to work on improving the leisure and sports offer. One of the latest developments is to build a new pump track and a workout zone with various open-air training stations that will soon be completed.
tourism development and future outlook
The tourism situation appears promising thanks to these measures. LAbg. Verena Dunst (SPÖ) underlined that the positive development of tourism creates jobs and increases regional added value. Gerhard Hutter, the SPÖ tourism spokesman, made it clear that one goal of the Burgenland is to extend the season and to further expand all-year tourism. A total of 79 different hotels, guest houses, guest houses and Kellerstöckl are currently integrated into the Burgenland Card system in the districts of Oberwart, Güssing and Jennersdorf and thus contribute to the boosting of the tourism offer in the region.
Overall, the new bus offer is an important step to move more visitors from Graz to Stegersbach and thus give regional tourism new impulses. Further information about the possibilities and partner accommodations are www.meinbezirk.at to be found.
