Ollersdorf launches Community Hub: Revolution for regional energy transition!

On May 13, 2025, the first innovative community hub was opened in Ollersdorf in Burgenland, which is part of the act4.energy project. This innovation laboratory is intended to make a significant contribution to a future, local, digital and sustainable energy system. The hub combines various technologies to actively support the energy transition.

The community hub includes a 25 kWp photovoltaic system, a 184 kWh battery storage system, a 100 kW fast charging station and two 22 kW charging points for community charging. This modular system not only enables emergency power supply in the community, but also helps to efficiently use excess electricity and compensate for shortages. Citizens and commuters benefit from a modern charging infrastructure that is available around the clock.

Funding by energy communities

A central feature of the Community Hub is the close collaboration with energy communities. Members benefit from up to 30% discounted charging, which increases the attractiveness of participation. The opportunity for citizens to participate in this new form of energy supply is strengthened by the operated battery storage system, which is provided by Enlion Service GmbH, the operator of the hub.

Raiffeisen Niederösterreich-Wien and Raiffeisenlandesbank Burgenland play an essential role in this project by investing in Enlion Service GmbH, formerly known as Futuregrid.Energy Service GmbH. With the aim of establishing an Austria-wide network of regional “energy cells”, Raiffeisen brings a wealth of know-how to the partnership, particularly in the establishment of energy communities and the provision of the “Auri” green electricity tariff.

Strategic partnership for the energy transition

The investment in Enlion aims to provide impetus for an independent and sustainable energy supply in the region. Raiffeisen's General Director, Michael Höllerer, emphasizes the importance of entrepreneurial courage and solid financing for the successful energy transition. The Community Hub in Ollersdorf is just the beginning: Enlion plans to create over 100 such hubs across Austria by the end of 2026, with the next location already planned for Eisenstadt.

Andreas Schneemann, founder and managing director of Enlion, emphasizes the need to make the energy supply both regional and renewable. The integration of various energy supply systems through the “energy cell” model makes it possible to generate, store and use electricity locally. This strategic partnership between Raiffeisen and Enlion will also further promote the advantages of nationwide energy cooperatives in Burgenland and thus create the basis for a fair energy future.

With an investment framework of 100,000 to 200,000 euros for the community hub and a profitability period of 7-12 years, this hub represents an innovative step towards sustainable energy supply and symbolizes the vision of a modern energy future in Burgenland.
