Climate -neutral future: student ideas conquer the youth climate conference
This year's youth climate conference took place in Eisenstadt, in which around 400 students came together to present their ideas for a climate -neutral future. This event was organized for the fourth time and once again launched by Deputy Governor Astrid Eisenkopf, this time in cooperation with Burgenland Energie.
In the course of the school year, the participants worked in various workshops under the motto "Get into action", whereby they received support from experts from the Burgenland state government, Burgenland Energie, the Burgenland mobility center and other institutions. The results of this intensive work were presented during the conference and then discussed with Eisenkopf and Stephan Sharma, the CEO of Burgenland Energie. The meaning of the ideas
Eisenkopf emphasized the importance of the submitted proposals and practical criticism, which are considered an invaluable value. These ideas are to be presented in the newly founded climate examination and further discussed by experts. "The input of the young people is crucial for our climate protection strategies," says Eisenkopf.
Sharma complemented the discussion by emphasizing that the design of the energy future was a cross -generational project. This youth climate conference is an important initiative to reach the energy independence of Burgenland until 2023. The young people could serve as role models in the energy transition.
goals for the future
A central goal of the conference and the associated climate strategy is the balance sheet climate neutrality of Burgenland by 2030. This is a major challenge, since the country does not want to become climate -neutral until 2050. A comprehensive strategy with 120 measures in nine fields of action was developed in 2023, which are now to be implemented consistently. Eisenkopf continued that the youth were not only the voices of the future, but also a driving force in achieving these goals.
