Municipalities in Eisenstadt take brave step to the heat transition
Last Friday, the opening event was launched the pilot project "Heat -turning Eisenstadt and the surrounding area". With this innovative project, which includes 14 municipalities and the state capital Eisenstadt, an essential step towards sustainable energy generation is to be taken. The main goal of the initiative: the exit from fossil fuels such as oil and gas.
The managing director of the climate and energy fund, Bernd Vogel, emphasized that the success of this project depends heavily on the willingness of investors. "It depends on those who want to invest if we want to become climate -neutral in our region," he said. A total of 1.13 million euros will be provided over the next three years, with one million euros from federal funding.
Significant investments for climate -friendly heating systems
With strong financial support, a conversion of the heating systems and efficient energy use in the region are sought. Astrid Eisenkopf, the governor's deputy, reported that there has been a funding rail since 2021 that has already replaced numerous fossil heating. "We are very confident to achieve the goals set for 2030 and want to go with this project with a good example," she assured.
Project manager Marion Schönfeldinger presented the core destinations of the project: "We want to release the region with its communities and companies from oil and gas." In the region, around 6,000 gas heaters and around 1,300 oil heaters are still in operation, which are to be tackled in the coming years. The project ranges from the exchange of fossil heating to comprehensive information transfer to energy -efficient solutions.
common goals and great expectations
The municipalities that participate in this pilot project are intended as role models for further projects in the region. Mayor Rita Stenger from Siegendorf emphasized that the expectations of the project were high: "Of course we agreed with each other and immediately saw that the communities are being accompanied professionally here." Eisenstadt Mayor Thomas Steiner also underlined the importance of the involvement of the citizens: "It is important to take the residents with them on such projects."
The following municipalities are involved in the project:
- Eisenstadt
- Breitenbrunn
- Donnerskirchen
- Klingenbach
- Mörbisch
- Oggau
- Oslip
- Purbach
- rust
- Sankt Margarethen
- shooter at the mountains
- Siegendorf
- Trasudorf
- Wulkradersdorf
- Zagersdorf
Overall, this project shows the commitment of the municipalities and the state of Burgenland to make an active contribution to the energy transition and climate protection. The coming years will be crucial for how successfully changing to sustainable heating systems can be implemented. More details on this topic can be found in a detailed report www.meinbezirk.at .
