Blum donates 150,000 euros for eye operations: light for the world!
Köln, Deutschland - On July 7, 2025, the Blum Group announced an important donation of 150,000 euros to the "Light for the World" organization at the Interzum 2025, the World's Property Mass for Furniture Production. This sum enables around 1,250 eye operations for children who need support all over the world. Blum has been socially committed to over 30 years and has decided to do without classic giveaways and instead donate charity. Visitors to the flower stand were able to take part in the campaign.
The visitors were greeted with a symbolic compass that was part of a stand concept that was modeled on a trip around the world. On a tour of the stand, the participants had the opportunity to throw compass into a collective box. Each throw -in was counted and a contribution to the total amount of the donation. A special highlight was the project, in which a vague picture was focused on a screen. This symbolized visual problems with gray star, a common problem in disadvantaged regions.
support for eye health
Julia Moser, the managing director of "Light for the World" in Austria, and her colleague Alex Buchinger thanked Blum and the numerous supporters who made a valuable contribution by participating in the fundraising campaign. The international aid organization, which has been active since its foundation in 1988, not only promotes eye operations, but also the training of medical specialists and the establishment of eye clinics in the most affected regions.
"Light for the World" is committed to eye health in various countries such as Ethiopia, Burkina Faso, Kenya, Mozambique, South Sudan and Uganda and is committed to inclusion and development cooperation. The organization works in several European countries and in the United States and has already helped thousands of people to regain their eyesight. Every euro counts, and specifically, every throw -in of a special arrow that was also part of the action is 30 euros, which exactly corresponds to the costs of a single eye operation.
global challenges in supporting children
The importance of such fundraisers is also underlined by the global position of children. Every sixth child lives in a conflict area, and around 50 million children are on the run. Unfortunately, the governments show a falling willingness to support what has fatal effects on the living conditions of many children. Around 15 million children and mothers could lack vital nutritional aids, while around 20 million children have no access to basic medical care.
These challenges make it clear that financial support is urgently necessary not only for eye operations, but also for more comprehensive development cooperation. Investments in such programs strengthen social cohesion and improve the living conditions of the communities affected in the long term, which corresponds to the goal of humanitarian aid.
In this context, Blum's action shows how companies can take responsibility in society. By supporting social projects, they set a sign of the future and help to improve the living conditions of many children.
