CSU demands more transparency and service in Bad Neustädter parking!
The Bad Neustadt CSU parliamentary group has requested a discussion in the city council about transparency and service orientation in parking space management. This application was submitted to Mayor Michael Werner at the beginning of January 2025. The CSU had already submitted an application in July 2024 that led to free parking in the city center. Customers currently enjoy 30 minutes of free parking in front of the Marienapotheke.
The new application results from numerous complaints about the traffic monitoring service (VÜD) that the CSU city councilors have received. The CSU parliamentary group spokesman Bastian Steinbach emphasized that this project was not about criticism of the EDP, but about constructive solutions. The aim is to obtain the expertise of the public order office and not to hold discussions on social media.
Demands of the CSU
The application highlights the need to comply with legal requirements while promoting a welcoming culture in the city center. The CSU wants to achieve a balance between orderly traffic conditions and the attractiveness of the city center. In addition, problems in the districts, such as in Herschfeld, should be addressed.
The application calls for an explanation of the current status of parking management and the EDP at a meeting in January. A particular focus should be on dealing with short-term parking and the transparency of the regulations. In order to ensure service-oriented enforcement of the requirements, the CSU calls for training measures for the VÜD and the development of guidelines to improve the transparency and comprehensibility of the parking regulations.
In addition, proposals for creating better parking options for short-term parkers should be developed and communication between administration, businesses and citizens should be strengthened. A planned test opening of Hohnstrasse should also be included in the considerations.
The change to the parking fee regulations in Bad Neustadt comes into force on November 1st, 2024. From this date onwards, free parking is possible in the city center (within the city walls) and in the “Am Zollberg” car park for 30 minutes with a parking disc. It is prohibited to extend the maximum parking time of 30 minutes by continuing to turn the parking disc. Parking ticket machines in this area will be switched off and signage will be adjusted accordingly.
The regulation also applies to the town hall square, while the first two hours are free in surrounding parking lots. After the first two hours, a fee of €0.50 per additional hour will be charged. Day tickets cost €3.00 and monthly tickets cost €15.00. The parking permit requirement remains even for the free two hours; A ticket must be purchased at the machine, which has its own button for this time. Users without a valid parking ticket must expect a warning.
There is a five-hour parking permit on the South Fairground, while the current parking arrangements will be retained on campus.
