In Perleberg, Roy Hartung is not just a name, but an institution! The 44-year-old impresses as a caterer, restaurateur and DJ and has achieved legendary status in Prignitz. With his company Vormark Koch-Kultur he ensures culinary highlights and brings the beats to the hottest clubs in the region. Hartung runs the police canteen on Berliner Strasse and the popular lunch snack bar “Liebling” on Wittenberger Strasse, which are considered indispensable points of contact for hungry guests.
His journey as a restaurateur began in the canteen at the old slaughterhouse, where he not only provided for the physical well-being, but also developed the secret recipe for the famous Prignitz potato salad. “In doing so, I secured the jobs and the location,” explains Hartung proudly about his takeover of the canteen. But that's not all! In addition to his culinary successes, Hartung has also shaped the music scene. As a DJ, he has been delighting his audiences with underground sounds based on house and techno since 1995. “It was an exciting time,” he remembers of his beginnings, which were filled with unforgettable parties and events.
Kitchen art and music combined
Hartungs Catering has built up an excellent reputation over the years and now supplies around 40 daycare centers and schools every day. Despite the challenges posed by the pandemic and rising costs, he remains optimistic. “Healthy eating shouldn’t be a luxury,” he emphasizes, and is committed to free school meals. His products come from the region whenever possible - from the breading to the schnitzel, everything is handmade and sustainable!
But Hartung also remains active as a DJ! It plays in extraordinary places and brings people together. “It takes a lot of effort, but it holds the region together,” he says. On November 16th he will be playing in the former department store in Wittenberge - an event that no one should miss! Roy Hartung is the heartbeat of Prignitz – culinary and musical!
