Big salsa duels and Falco show: Dancing Stars inspires!

An exciting dance festival was on the program in the seventh live show of “Dancing Stars” on May 2, 2025, which was broadcast at 8:15 p.m. on ORF 1 and JOYN. The spectators could look forward to a mixture of different dances, including jive, paso doble, rumba, tango, Viennese waltz and a very special highlight, the salsa duels. The couples performed the latter on stage with a surprise song, which provided additional thrills.

The couples participating that evening were:

  • Aaron Karl & Katya Mizera
  • Dimitar Stefanin & Eva Glawischnig
  • Herby Stanonik & Anna Strigl
  • Simone Lugner & Danilo Campisi

Special occasion and show highlights

Another highlight of the show was the celebration of the 40th anniversary of Falco's hit "Rock Me Amadeus". Members of Falco's original band performed together with prominent Austrian soloists. The soloists included well-known names such as Ana Milva Gomes, Drew Sarich, Edita Malovčić, Georgij Makazaria, Andie Gabauer, Roman Gregory, Tini Kainrath and Moritz Mausser. This combination of live performance and dance promised an unforgettable experience for the audience.

Particularly noteworthy is the guest juror Ross Antony, who complemented the existing jury team with Maria Angelini-Santner and Balázs Ekker. Antony emphasized the importance of charisma, emotion and joy in dancing, which should give participants additional motivation to give their best.

Dances and performances

The dances presented throughout the show included:

  • Andi Wojta & Kati Kallus: „Mr. Bojangles“ (Wiener Walzer)
  • Aaron Karl & Katya Mizera: „Havana“ (Rumba)
  • Anna Strigl & Herby Stanonik: „What’s New Pussycat?“ (Wiener Walzer)
  • Eva Glawischnig & Dimitar Stefanin: „Bring Me to Life“ (Paso Doble)
  • Paulus Bohl & Catharina Malek: „Hip Teens (Don’t Wear Blue Jeans)“ (Jive)
  • Simone Lugner & Danilo Campisi: „Poker Face“ (Tango)

The entire show became a feast for the senses, dedicated to dance and music. The combination of an atmospheric live performance and exciting competition attracted numerous spectators.

In a different context, Vienna also offers various events such as the Austrian Dinner Show in the basement of the town hall, which appeals to large groups of non-European tourists. With its combination of traditional cuisine and an entertaining show program, it represents another opportunity to experience Austrian culture. But the “Dancing Stars” show stands out for its glamorous dances and prominent soloists, which makes it a special event in Austrian television culture.

Overall, the episode of “Dancing Stars” offered a diverse and entertaining program that delighted both dance lovers and fans of Falco. The talented couples and the stirring music made for an evening full of emotions and fun.
