Carnival fever in Ebensee: colorful tradition conquers the Traunsee!
Ebenthal turned into a dazzling carnival stronghold on February 1, when the SPÖ attracted numerous guests under the motto "A Gau diobend in Red". Prominent visitors such as SPÖ district party chairman Ervin Hukarevic and honorary citizen Franz Felsberger celebrated exuberantly. The band "Die Wörtherseer" provided a rousing atmosphere until the early hours of the morning. A highlight of the evening was the mask award, in which 23 groups and individuals participated and were rewarded with excellent prices for their creativity. This successful event is linked to the legendary Ebenthaler mask balls from the 1980s to 2000s, as Klick-kaernten.at reported. The SPÖ Ebenthal is already planning a sequel to next year to further establish this ceremony.
At the same time, the carnival culture in Ebensee is blooming, where the hustle and bustle on February 12th is celebrated on February 12th. The move, known as a draft train, runs through the streets of the city at 3 p.m., and the participants dress in artistically designed colorful costumes that testify to the history of the carnival tradition in the Region. This tradition, which goes back to 1604, was launched by salt workers from the Ausseerland and developed rapidly. The audience awaits a colorful spectacle in which the creative “scraps” robes and wooden masks are the main attraction. The carnival is of historical importance for the community, since the carnival revolt from 1733 shows how firmly this tradition is in the culture of the region, so Salzi.at
