Saint Augustin in shock!On Wednesday morning, November 13, 2024, there was a dramatic traffic accident in the busy intersection of Hauptstrasse and Im Mittelfeld in Sankt Augustin-Buisdorf. Traffic was brought to an abrupt halt by a collision that occurred at 6 a.m. when a 27-year-old man from Sankt Augustin suffered minor injuries.
The young driver drove his Mercedes in the direction of Niederpleis, while a 59-year-old man from Hennef was driving his Kia on Autobahn 560 to turn onto the main road after an exit.What happened next left everyone involved stunned:The older driver apparently overlooked the person who had the right of way and caused the serious impact. The impact was so violent that the Kia was thrown against the guardrail - while the 59-year-old remained uninjured!
Investigations initiated
The consequences for the 27-year-old are worrying: Although he refused an ambulance and preferred to seek medical help on his own, he was slightly injured. The damage to both vehicles and to the guard rail has now been classified as significant; the total material damage is estimated at a four-digit euro amount.
