Fatal rear-end collision on the A7: 36-year-old dies tragically

Shock on the A7! On Tuesday, November 13th, a tragic traffic accident occurred around 1:10 p.m. that claimed the life of a 36-year-old driver. The horror accident happened between the Homberg (Efze) and Bad Hersfeld-West junctions when a truck and a car collided. A 60-year-old Austrian truck driver who was driving his Mercedes semi-trailer in the direction of Bad Hersfeld had to stop in the middle lane due to a breakdown.

In a devastating moment, the driver of a Mercedes Vito from Schlüchtern drove into the truck semi-trailer without braking. Despite immediate emergency measures, the 36-year-old succumbed to his serious injuries at the scene of the accident. The truck driver, however, remained uninjured, but there was significant damage, estimated at around 40,000 euros.

Chaos on the highway!

The motorway traffic conditions were significantly affected by the deployment of three patrol cars from the Bad Hersfeld motorway police as well as an emergency doctor and two ambulances. The Homberg (Efze) fire department was also on site. During the rescue work there was a backlog of up to seven kilometers! The investigation into the exact cause of the accident is already underway; an expert has been called in by the Kassel public prosecutor's office to clarify the course of the gruesome incident.

The diversion led to a single-lane traffic control at the accident site while emergency services dealt with the serious consequences of the accident. A tragic chapter on the A7 that once again highlights the dangers of road traffic!
