Burglars fail in Speyer: car remains intact!

On the night of Wednesday to Thursday there was an attempted break-in into a parked car in Speyer. Between 9:00 p.m. and 7:45 a.m., the unknown perpetrators smashed the rear window of a vehicle on Karl-Leilling-Allee. It is believed that the burglars were disturbed during their crime because they could not get inside the vehicle. The resulting material damage amounts to around 200 euros.

The Speyer police are now looking for witnesses who may be able to provide information about this incident or the perpetrators. Affected citizens are asked to contact us on 06232 1370 or alternatively by email to pispeyer@polizei.rlp.de.

The scam of car burglars

Car break-ins are a common crime in which perpetrators often specifically search for valuables. As a rule, they are particularly interested in personal items such as navigation devices, cell phones or laptops. Handbags containing credit cards, personal papers and cash are also a popular target. Experts assume that criminals specifically observe parking situations in order to carry out attacks shortly after parking a vehicle.

Especially in the dark season, when the evenings get longer, it is important for drivers to exercise particular caution. Care should be taken to always lock the vehicle, even if it is only parked for a short time. A thorough look at the surroundings before exiting the vehicle can help identify suspicious people and thereby minimize any potential risk.

Important tips for preventing car break-ins are that no valuables should be left visible in the vehicle. Even small objects can be an incentive for perpetrators.
