Regardless of the rules: A 10-year-old boy raced through Meinerzhagen on his e-scooter and ended up in the hospital! The accident happened at 4:40 p.m. on the sidewalk of “Zum Rothenstein” street when the little driver with a 12-year-old girl on board suddenly catapulted onto the street and then collided with the Ford Fiesta of a 67-year-old. The result: minor injuries for the boy and a car with damage worth around 1,000 euros!
Shocking! The e-scooter was not insured. A dangerous maneuver that raises questions. There are rules that must be strictly adhered to: The driver should be at least 14 years old, travel alone and of course whiz through the streets with an insured e-scooter. Sidewalks are taboo!
Safety precautions for e-scooter riders
Using e-scooters brings with it unbridled freedom, but also responsibility. Drivers must be on cycle paths and not be under the influence of alcohol or drugs. In addition, cell phones are strictly prohibited while driving. A helmet is not mandatory, but safety comes first!
The sad event should serve as a warning: carelessness can have serious consequences, even for seemingly harmless fun on an e-scooter. Parents and children – use these means of transport responsibly!
