TTC Oggersheim: Keeping an eye on staying in the regional league!
The TTC Oggersheim is optimistic about the remaining season in the Regionalliga Südwest. The club won all its home games but suffered five defeats away from home, some of them very close. Team leader Sascha Gemar finished sixth in the preliminary round, tied with the teams in fourth and fifth place. Club chairman Lothar Mayer expressed his satisfaction with the season so far, especially due to the strong collection of home points.
The key to success in the home games was without a doubt Panagiotis Gionis, the Greek Olympian and current number 91 in the world. Gionis only played in the home games and is seen as a decisive factor in the success. In the preliminary round, Francesco Maragioglio impressed with a 5-1 win record. Kevin Rief has also shown promising performances, while Sascha Gemar offers remarkable rallies, even if the results don't always go in his favour. Kestutis Zeymis, Lithuanian champion, finished the round with only three defeats.
Goal of staying in the league
The TTC Oggersheim is aiming to stay in the league and has the goal of ideally reaching seventh place in order to avoid relegation. The gap between seventh and fourth place is only two points. In the second half of the season, the club plans to collect points in five more home games.
Another important point for the team is the reinforcement of Panagiotis Gionis. How TTC Oggersheim reported, Gionis is expected to be the new number 1 of the regional league team. He has had an impressive career that has taken him through various European leagues and to several Olympic Games. Although Gionis remains internationally active, he may only play infrequently, but each of his games should be a highlight for spectators.
