Steffen Tölzer: Ice hockey star takes on double role in Lindau!
Steffen Tölzer has signed a two-year contract with the EV Lindau Islanders and will work both as a player and as head of marketing and communications. This was stated in a report by Schwäbische.de announced. The experienced ice hockey player has an impressive career in which he played 770 games in the German Ice Hockey League (DEL), 10 in the DEL2 and 251 in the Oberliga Süd. Tölzer previously played for the Augsburger Panther, among others, where he was active for a total of twelve years and proved himself in many games as captain and assistant captain.
The 37-year-old Tölzer has already played for Starbulls Rosenheim this season and scored 32 points there. With his signing, the club hopes to increase its popularity and expand its fan base, as is also mentioned on the EV Lindau Islanders website ( evlindau.com ). In his new role, Tölzer will also act as a role model for the younger players in the team and actively contribute his experience.
Goals and challenges with the EV Lindau Islanders
Tölzer will also serve as captain of the team and is aiming for a place in the play-offs. The EV Lindau Islanders currently have 15 games ahead of them and are six points behind direct qualification. Tölzer is dissatisfied with a current score of 43 points and recognizes the difficulties in the power play, where the team is second to last in the majority and last in the minority. He emphasizes the importance of improving special teams, as the lack of success in this regard affects players' confidence.
Back to Tölzer's achievements: He has scored five goals and 17 assists so far this season. The upcoming games include a home game against Höchstadter EC and a derby against ECDC Memmingen. Despite the challenges, Tölzer has no plans to end his career and is concentrating on the current season.
There are also positive developments in the audience, as the number of viewers increased from 646 to 769. Tölzer also brought infrastructural improvements, such as the renovation of the BPM Arena, into play in order to further increase the club's attractiveness.
