Nina Reichenbach, the outstanding trial rider from Ötisheim, triumphed again at the Urban World Championships in Abu Dhabi and secured the bronze medal. On Saturday, December 21, 2024, Reichenbach started as the top favorite with the goal of winning her seventh world title. During the competition she showed an impressive performance by being in the lead in the first few laps. However, she unexpectedly had to give up in the decisive fifth section and remained without any points, which was a first in her career for the 25-year-old. “Normally I can handle pressure well, but today it didn’t work,” she explained after the competition. Despite this setback, she fought back bravely, collecting a total of 180 points and securing third place, while Spain's Alba Riera took the title with 210 points, followed by her compatriot Vera Baron in second place with 200 points, as it were SWR reported.
Remarkable performance despite setbacks
Reichenbach's return from the deficit is considered remarkable. She noted that the lack of points in the fifth section had a serious impact and expressed her disappointment at the missed opportunity to win the seventh title. “Now I have bronze and I’m really happy with that and will attack again next year,” she added.
