Thomas Müller reached a remarkable milestone in the Champions League on Wednesday evening. With his 163rd appearance in the prestigious competition, he drew level with Lionel Messi and is now third in the list of players with the most appearances. Only Cristiano Ronaldo (183 games) and Iker Casillas (177 games) are still ahead of him. All of his appearances were completed in the jersey of FC Bayern Munich, whose team he has played for since 2008 and will leave the club in the summer of 2025. In the first leg against Chelsea, Müller came on as a substitute and scored the equalizer before the game ended 1-2. The second leg of his team was currently taking place in the live ticker.
Müller, who was born on September 13, 1989 in Weilheim in Upper Bavaria, is currently 35 years old and plays either in attacking midfield or in attack. In his career at FC Bayern Munich so far, he has scored 150 goals in 498 competitive games, making him both the club's record player and one of the most successful German football players with a total of 33 titles.
A look at Müller's impressive career
The attacking midfielder began his career in 2000 with FC Bayern's D-Juniors and played through all youth teams before making his Bundesliga debut in 2008.
