Hermann Neubauer: A dream becomes true - the Dakar challenge!

The Lungau rally epilot Hermann Neubauer, 36 years old, caused a sensation at the Jännerrallye, the first race of the season in Austria. Despite a broken windshield and wearing ski goggles, he presented the best time on one of the special exams and proved it. The race took place in the Mühlviertel and was a spontaneous participation for Neubauer, since he only received a place in the Ford Fiesta Mk2 Rally2 shortly before the rally, as orf.at reported . He received the offer from his former team ZM-Racing, with which he has been friendly for years.

The dream of the Dakar

Neubauer's sporty focus is already on an even more ambitious goal: participation in the legendary Rallye Dakar. This challenge not only requires speed, but also precise navigation over diverse and unknown routes that represent a completely different kind of rallying. "It would be a dream to realize that," explains Neubauer. In order to be able to start at the Dakar, however, he needs a budget of around 500,000 euros, such as SN.AT. In the category "Side by Side", which includes buggy -like two -seater, he would like to compete and relies on his good network for financing.

With his previous success at the Jännerrallye and his sporting ambitions, Neubauer is well equipped. "It remains a pure fun story," he emphasizes in terms of his current achievements, but it remains to be seen what other challenges the 2025 rally season still has for him. A few cool races are still on his wish list, while at the same time decides how his career continues.
