Heinz Strunk: How magical change after death can be honored?
The Hamburg writer Heinz Strunk, 62 years old, has dealt with an astonishing topic: What happens after his death? In an interview with the German Press Agency, Strunk said that he hadn't given it much thought. He is not a devout Christian and that wouldn't matter to him. Nevertheless, he would like to have a few kind words in his obituary. "I hope that my journey on the wide earth will be viewed somewhat favorably. But that will no longer be in my hands," said the author.
Strunk was particularly thoughtful about the media attention his death could receive. “I wonder if, if I continue to be diligent, my death will be reported on the 8 p.m. news on ARD,” he stated. These thoughts come at a time when Strunk has just published his new novel “Zauberberg 2”, which is a homage to Thomas Mann’s famous work “The Magic Mountain”. Both stories feature men who come to a clinic to be healed, but stay longer than originally planned - a metaphor for the unpredictability of life. As the Wesermarsch district newspaper and the Augsburger Allgemeine reported, the new novel is another step in the literary career of Strunk, who continues to ask questions about his own place in the world.
