Gladbach's young star Swider: A dream comes true!

A talent's dream becomes reality: Borussia Mönchengladbach has promoted Niklas Swider, a 17-year-old midfield talent, to the professional team. On December 8th, Roland Virkus, the club's sports director, announced on Sport1 that an A-youth would be included in the professional squad. The name of the chosen one was revealed on Tuesday: Swider, who has been at the club since 2014 and has already scored seven goals in 13 games for the U19s this season, is now officially a member of the first team. Head coach Gerardo Seoane was optimistic about Swider's potential: "We see great potential in him and are convinced that he can play an important role in the six in the future," as on fr.de is reported.

Swider's path to success is impressive. Even as a child he dreamed of playing for the Foals. He took his first step in this direction in 2014 when his grandfather enrolled him in Borussia Mönchengladbach's youth academy. He previously had a tempting offer from Fortuna Düsseldorf, which he rejected in the hope that his favorite would notice him. Last Saturday, Swider made his debut in the professional squad, leaving the youth teams in which he played 16 games and scored eight goals. However, the coach warned that it was important to introduce Swider “carefully and in small steps” in order not to jeopardize his development transfermarkt.de reported.

Niklas Swider has taken an important step in his career with his decision to stay in Gladbach. Now it remains to be seen how his career will develop in the Bundesliga. His ambitions are clear: “I want to continue my path at Borussia,” he explains and is hoping for a bright future with the foals.
