ECDC Memmingen celebrates: Dramatic overtime win against Passau!
On Friday evening, ECDC Memmingen achieved an exciting 3-2 win after extra time against the Black Hawks Passau. Jack Olmstead celebrated a successful debut and gave decisive impetus for his new team with two assists. The next derby against the Lindau Islanders is scheduled for Sunday.
The game started evenly: In the first third, the Memmingen team took the lead with a powerplay goal from Matej Pekr before Andrew Schembri equalized for Passau. In the second third it was Robert Peleikis who put Memmingen back in front, supported by Olmstead. But the Black Hawks equalized in the final third through David Seidl, which sent the game into overtime. This was marked by errors and lapses in concentration, and both teams struggled to score further goals. In extra time, Memmingen was more dominant, but had to overcome a situation of being outnumbered. Ultimately, Eddy Homjakov's game goal, which was set up for him by Olmstead, decided the game.
Laatzte developments at the Memmingen Indians
The Memmingen Indians have also signed Jack Olmstead as a new striker. The 26-year-old arrived in Memmingen on Tuesday and is initially planned as the fourth contingent player until Linus Svedlund receives German citizenship. Olmstead grew up in Michigan and enjoyed a career in the NCAA and Swedish Division 2. In the current season he scored an impressive 11 goals and 17 assists in 31 games in a try-out with the Tölzer Löwen.
Sven Müller, the sporting director of the Memminger Indians, emphasizes the expectations of Olmstead as a fast and agile striker with a good finish. After Sebastian Christmann's departure, there was a vacant squad position that Olmstead now occupies. Depending on Paul Fabian's injury, those responsible for the team are planning to make further commitments in the German sector. Olmstead's major league debut depends on when Svedlund receives his German passport. Before the weekend, the Indians are in fourth place in the Oberliga-South and will host the Lindau Islanders on Sunday, whose top scorer Zan Jezovsek has already scored 22 goals this season.
