Mental Health Week: Offers for everyone in the Wartburg district!

Mental Health Week began in the Wartburg district on Thursday, with an opening ceremony in the Bad Salzungen district office. This event recognized the cooperation of 25 institutions and private individuals who played a key role in organizing a total of 36 offers during the campaign week.

The launch event provided the framework to raise awareness of an important concern: mental health. First, a music video by David Floyd was shown, which serves as the official song for the green ribbon, a symbol that stands for support for people with mental illness around the world. This green ribbon aims to remove taboos from the topic of mental health and reduce prejudices.

Important contributions to mental health

Doreen Schrumpf, psychiatric coordinator in the district office, pointed out that psychological stress must be taken seriously, especially given the increasing number of illnesses. The event's mission is to raise employers' awareness of this issue and to help promote a healthy working environment.

The musical accompaniment to the evening was provided by the talented Marta Schrumpf on the accordion, who delighted the audience with her performances.

A further keynote speech was given by Dr. med. Gyula Marton Kohl, the senior physician in charge of the day clinic for psychiatry and psychotherapy at the St. Georg Clinic in Eisenach. He analyzed the increasing prevalence of mental disorders and the associated social perception. Using examples from the public, he called for an open approach to mental health problems in order to combat stigma.

Unfortunately, a planned lecture on the topic of leadership styles and their influence on the mental health of employees had to be canceled at short notice because the speaker was unavailable due to illness. Nevertheless, the event offered space for lively discussions and networking among the participants.

All offers during the week are accessible free of charge to those interested and are aimed at all age groups. Detailed information and the complete program are available on the Wartburgkreis website, and inquiries can be directed directly to the events team. This Mental Health Week sets an important example for an appreciative approach to mental illnesses in our society and in the workplace.
