Furniture stores in Vienna: Shocking defects discovered in promotional prices!
Vienna on alert! After intensive checks by the Vienna Market Office in furniture stores, it is now clear: a third of the promotional prices are wrong! In the last few weeks, 122 inspections have uncovered glaring deficiencies, such as oe24.at reported. A spokesman for the market office, Alexander Hengl, revealed that many supposed bargains do not correspond to the actual discounts, which could have legal consequences for the affected traders.
Painful consequences for furniture fans
The new “Price Labeling Act”, which will be tightened in 2022, requires retailers to indicate the original sales price in addition to the promotional price. Apparently many furniture stores ignore this law. Neither the sales price nor the price information often corresponds to the legal requirements. “A non-binding sales price has nothing to do with the actual price and cannot be used so easily,” explained Hengl. There is a risk of fines of up to 1,450 euros per violation.
The Market Authority's scrutiny not only fuels customer confidence in price transparency, but could soon shine a harsh light on our favorite furniture stores as they have to rethink their flawed pricing strategies to meet legal requirements, ie wien.ORF.at added. The next few weeks could be crucial to ensure customer transparency and provide the right pricing information to buyers.
