Star conversations on ORF: Lohner, Neururer and Schreiner meet!
On Thursday, April 3, 2025, the ORF night talk “Stöckl” will be broadcast at 11:05 p.m. on ORF 2 and on ORF ON. Host Barbara Stöckl has invited prominent guests for this episode: the presenter and author Chris Lohner, the snowboard world champion Heidi Neururer, Jeff Schreiner, who runs the “Haus des Meeres” in Vienna, and the internationally recognized oncologist Christoph Zielinski. This round promises an exciting exchange about personal experiences and social issues.
Chris Lohner, who is still active in public at the age of 81, is known not only for her media presence, but also for her commitment as an ambassador for the organization “Light for the World”. Lohner has spent over two decades in Africa and is committed to improving living conditions and eyesight in project countries. Her new book, When Africa Smiles, was published on March 6, 2025 and includes personal travel experiences and memories from countries such as Ethiopia, Tanzania and Kenya. In the work, she describes both harrowing and uplifting moments of her deployments, which provide deep insight into the different cultures and challenges she faced. The organization “Light for the World” honored their decades of cooperation and their tireless efforts.
The guests in focus
After her sporting career as snowboard world champion, Heidi Neururer embarked on a successful career as a commentator and entrepreneur. Her book “Life Moments of a World Champion” sheds light on her experiences during and after her active time in sport.
Jeff Schreiner, who is only 30 years old, has taken over the “Haus des Meeres” in Vienna since the beginning of 2025. His focus is on species protection and educating people about the role of zoos, and he also disseminates targeted information via YouTube videos. It is a current topic that affects many people and is intended to raise awareness for the protection of animal species.
Christoph Zielinski not only has an excellent reputation as an oncologist, but has also gained a foothold in literature. His first novel, “Laurenzerberg,” deals with the history of Polish-Jewish migrants in post-war Vienna and combines his personal experiences as a doctor with family roots.
A look back at Chris Lohner's career
Christine “Chris” Lohner, née Keprda, has had a remarkable career. After studying acting and having her first successes as a photo model, she began working for the Austrian Broadcasting Corporation (ÖRF) in 1973. She won the Golden Romy in 1993 for her programming and has since published numerous books. She is also known for her distinctive red hair and her voice, which has been heard in the automatic announcements of the Austrian Federal Railways since 1979. Despite personal challenges, such as her relationship with Alp Lohner and a life with ex-tennis player Lance Lumsden, she has maintained her place in society and continued to actively participate in numerous cultural projects and charitable activities. Particular attention is paid to her many years of work for WWF Austria.
The upcoming episode of “Stöckl” promises not only to provide interesting insights into the life stories of its guests, but also to shed light on the important topics of social engagement and cultural exchange.
