Sex offender shocked on S-Bahn: young people from Welver persecuted!

An unbelievable incident shook everyday life at the train station in Lütgendortmund: A 36-year-old homeless man from Morocco turned the morning S-Bahn journey of a 17-year-old student from Welver into a nightmare. The young woman felt harassed by the man when he blatantly grabbed her butt and then carried out outrageous actions on the S-Bahn. The Federal Police were informed of this incredible misconduct at around 11:45 a.m. on Sunday, December 15th.

The man dropped all shame on the S4 on the platform: he pulled down his pants and began to pleasure himself while staring eerily at the girl, winking at her and licking his lips. Such behavior undermines trust in public transport and shows the need to think about safety on our trains. The Panoramic view of Unna reported on the brazen attack, which was confirmed by the sister of the victim and the attentive platoon commander.

Courageous reaction and the consequences

Despite the shocking event, the young girl reacted calmly: she immediately contacted the train driver, who immediately alerted the federal police. Thanks to this quick reaction, the perpetrator was caught on the train and taken to the guard at Dortmund Central Station. However, the man's arrest did not bring the hoped-for turnaround. After his personal details were recorded, the man was released due to lack of grounds for detention, although he now has to answer for multiple offenses such as sexual harassment and causing a public nuisance.

These incidents once again raise the question of how to better protect passengers on transport. Many train users feel unsettled by such and similar experiences and are calling for more police presence and targeted measures to increase safety on the S-Bahn. The unfortunate fact that these attacks continue to occur shows the urgent need to rethink our protective measures.

A look ahead:

It is time for comprehensive strategies to be developed to prevent incidents of this kind in the future. Society demands stringent measures that ensure that safety on trains and at stations does not remain just lip service. Transport companies have a duty to take advice from safety experts and take proactive steps to ensure the safety of their passengers. Regardless of whether by increasing police presence or installing improved surveillance technology, such incidents must no longer be the order of the day.
