Schwarzenegger returns: Climate summit in Vienna creates excitement!

Arnold Schwarzenegger returns to Austria for the “Austrian World Summit”. The high-profile environmental and climate conference, which will take place in Vienna on June 3, 2025, was initiated by Schwarzenegger in 2017. The focus is on the international climate crisis and the exchange about possible answers from politics and society. Schwarzenegger will be officially received by Chancellor Christian Stocker in the Federal Chancellery on June 2, 2025 at 5:30 p.m.

The event attracts leading personalities from over 80 countries, including Federal President Alexander Van der Bellen, former Prime Minister Tony Blair, Formula 1 world champion Nico Rosberg and former ski racer Felix Neureuther. The theme of this year's summit is “Unite in Action – Terminate Pollution,” and it aims to accelerate solutions and progress on climate change.

Focus on first responders in the climate emergency

One of the focuses of the “Austrian World Summit” is on the first responders in a climate emergency. These play a crucial role in the fight against climate-related disasters such as forest fires, floods and extreme weather events. Schwarzenegger has emphasized that the courage, determination and innovation of these first responders are paramount.

Before the conference, Schwarzenegger plans to visit his home community of Thal near Graz. There he would like to meet old friends and possibly visit the Arnold Schwarzenegger Museum, which documents his career from bodybuilder to film star and governor of California. Thal is a retreat for Schwarzenegger, far away from Hollywood and the political spotlight, and remains particularly close to him.

Climate change in a global context

The “Austrian World Summit” takes place against the backdrop of international climate discussions. The UN Climate Change Conference (COP29) will be held in Baku, Azerbaijan in November 2024 and will bring together 197 states and the European Union to discuss the implementation of the Paris Agreement. The focus here is on climate finance, particularly support for developing countries.

Since 1995, numerous organizations have received observer status at these important climate summits. Historic milestones from past conferences, such as the Kyoto Protocol and the Paris Agreement of 2015, are also part of the global climate discourse. So while the Austrian World Summit addresses local approaches to combating environmental problems, it remains part of a broader, international effort to tackle the climate crisis.

The Austrian World Summit is therefore not only Arnold Schwarzenegger's personal “heart project”, but also an important platform for global dialogue about climate protection and sustainable future strategies.

Further information about the event can be found on the official website of the Austrian World Summit and on the general topics of the World Climate Conference.
