Ralf Lehnhard: New hope for the left in Ostallgäu!

A change has taken place in the political landscape of the Ostallgäu: Ralf Lehnhard was elected as the new candidate for the Ostallgäu constituency of the “Die Linke” party. This happened as part of a representative meeting that took place in the Kempten trade union building. The 52-year-old Lehnhard is currently working as an employee of Susanne Ferschl, who has been a member of the German Bundestag for “Die Linke” since 2017.

Ferschl announced in the summer of 2024 that she would not run for a third term in office. In her farewell speech, she expressed regret about the discord within the party, particularly the founding of the “Alliance Sahra Wagenknecht (BSW)”, which she sees as a division. Ferschl plans to take on new challenges.

Lehnhard's political agenda

In his speech, Ralf Lehnhard advocated for the continuation of union and works council work in order to strengthen co-determination. He also wants to implement a social-ecological transformation and a vocational training agenda with a focus on integration. Its goal is to create a fair society in which the environment, economy and the interests of all employees are harmonized.

In addition, a worrying development is being pointed out in the run-up to the federal election: more and more people are faced with the choice between a warm meal and a warm apartment in winter. This problem not only affects low earners, but also people with better incomes who feel the pressure of rising prices. According to information from die-linke.de, successes have already been achieved with the minimum wage and there is vocal opposition putting pressure on changes.

Last fall, party members held tens of thousands of conversations in order to hear people's concerns and problems directly and integrate them into the election program. These measures demonstrate the party's efforts to stay close to citizens' needs and offer appropriate solutions.

Further information about the 2025 federal election can be found on the official website of “Die Linke” at die-linke.de.
