Carinthian students achieved national final victory with spoon it”!

Students from the BG/BRG Mössingerstraße in Klagenfurt have achieved remarkable success with their “spoon it” project. This innovative school project, which offers sustainable fast food in jars, was recently awarded at the Junior Federal Final 2025 in Vienna. In their concept, the students rely on regional ingredients that are ready to eat after briefly heating them. Herwig Draxler, Managing Director of the Carinthian Economic Society, praised the innovative strength and entrepreneurial spirit that are visible in Carinthia's classrooms, as klick-kaernten.at reports.

“Spoon it” impressed the jury at the Carinthia state competition and prevailed against numerous other student companies. In this project, sustainability is combined with a variety of international recipes, which underlines the versatility of the cuisine. The “Junior Company” program offers young people between the ages of 15 and 19 the opportunity to run a real company for a year and gain valuable experience in the field of business management.

More inspiring projects in schools

In a similar initiative, the graduating classes of the Hollabrunn Agricultural College (LFS) have also founded their own junior companies. Various products were developed under the motto “regional and sustainable”. This includes the junior company “Taste of Wild”, which offers high-quality, natural products, including cold-pressed rapeseed oil in flavors such as herbs, garlic and chili as well as protein-rich beef jerky made from regional beef, as lfs-hollabrunn.ac.at reports.

In addition, the 3rd class of business and household management founded the junior company “Blütenzauber”, which produces chocolates with candied flowers and presents them in self-designed packaging. The graduating class of small animal husbandry has founded the junior company “Woodies” and offers high-quality treats for pets as well as hand-made wooden houses for rodents. All companies created comprehensive market analyzes and business plans and worked in teams to successfully develop and market their products.

Practical learning with future perspectives

The “Junior Companies” project is seen as a prime example of practical learning at LFS Hollabrunn. It not only promotes entrepreneurial thinking, but also teamwork, problem-solving skills and time management. The support teacher Martina Mayerhofer was enthusiastic about the creativity and commitment of her students. As junior.cc explains, the young people go through all phases of a business project, from coming up with an idea to closing a deal, and thus acquire not only basic economic knowledge, but also social skills that will support them in their future professional lives.
