Young adults celebrate with Denk Dich Neu: Advent calendar full of prizes!
In Vienna, the church dialogue initiative “Denk Dich Neu” caused a stir with a special Advent calendar. On every Advent Sunday, oeticket vouchers worth 150 euros are raffled off, and on Christmas Eve a voucher worth 200 euros is at stake. Those interested can enter the raffle by liking and commenting on Instagram and tag a friend for the nearest event.
The “Denk Dich Neu” initiative achieved a consistently positive outcome in 2024. In particular, the festival pastoral care, which worked at major music festivals such as the Donauinselfest and the Electric Love Festival, achieved over 6,000 personal conversations and encounters. The social media presence was also notable: the “Denk Dich Neu” Instagram account recorded around 5.6 million impressions during this time and reached 1.2 million young adults.
A growing commitment to youth
The initiative, which is part of the Catholic Church in Austria, aims to promote dialogue with young adults and redesign pastoral care. Pastoral theologian Gabriele Eder-Cakl emphasized that the approach was “not designed as a one-way street,” but rather aims to learn from the realities of young people’s lives. Further measures are also planned for 2025, including operations at ski openings and the production of podcasts. This positive response makes it clear that “Denk Dich Neu” will continue with its innovative approach in the coming year.
