The countdown to the climax of the ball season in Austria is on! In just three days, on February 27, 2025, the Vienna State Opera will once again be transformed into the glamorous center of rapprochement, dancing and extravagance: the 67th Vienna Opera Ball is just around the corner. As usual, ORF will put together a first-class reporting program that will be shown live on ORF 2, 3sat and ORF ON from 8:15 p.m. The fans can look forward to a great event, moderated by Mirjam Weichselbraun, Teresa Vogl, Marion Benda, Andi Knoll and, for the first time, Silvia Schneider. The events will be commented on by the stars Karl Hohenlohe and Christoph Wagner-Trenkwitz, who will delight the audience with their specialist knowledge and their charming style orf.at reported.
A look at opening night
The grand opening with the motto “Everything is dancing – arrival of the guests” will begin at 8:15 p.m. Guests from politics, business, art and society are welcomed on the red carpet while the cameras capture the magnificent gowns and the glamorous reception. Highlights include performances by artists, including the stars of the State Opera, and traditional segments with the national anthem. The presenters will also capture audience reactions after the performances as they tour the various boxes and conduct interviews with the celebrity ball-goers, as previously Austria reported.
As a special highlight this year, a drone will be used for the broadcast, offering viewers breathtaking new perspectives from the opera house. The Opera Ball is not only a celebration of conviviality, but also an opportunity for solidarity: the event once again supports the AUSTRIA HELPS AUSTRIA initiative, a joint campaign by leading aid organizations that offers help to people in emergency situations.
The day after the ball, February 28th, at 8:15 p.m. on ORF 1, Lilian Klebow will present the most spectacular moments of the night, including the most extravagant appearances and the fashion highlights, in the program “Alles Opernball”.
