Celebration of the Marian Congregation: A celebration of hope in Hall!

On December 8, 2024, the Marian Congregation (MK) in Hall celebrated its main festival on the occasion of the Catholic feast of the Immaculate Conception of Mary. The official celebratory service took place in the Franciscan High School under the direction of Brother Rene Dorer, who acted as main celebrant. During the celebrations, the 2024 yearbook was presented, edited by honorary member Harald De Zottis. The yearbook documents, among other things, the membership and special milestones of the community, which in its over 400-year history has repeatedly been confronted with a trend towards weaker young people. Despite a decline in visitor numbers, this year there was a pleasing cooperation with the student association “Sternkorona”, which integrated its foundation festival into the main festival, which attracted a significant number of guests from Tyrol, Salzburg and the Innviertel.

Statistics on the risk of poverty

In the context of the poverty situation in Tyrol, according to the EU-SILC data from 2019 to 2021, around 100,479 people are at risk of poverty, which corresponds to a rate of 13.5%. These people do not reach the set threshold income of 15,943 euros per year. Individual households are particularly affected at 27.4%, followed by people without employment (21.4%) and older people over 65 years of age (21.8%). The data also shows that people with a migrant background have an increased risk of poverty of 22.9%. In Tyrol, another 2.8% of the population is considered manifestly poor, which underlines the urgency of support for these vulnerable groups. The average disposable household income in Tyrol is 39,496 euros, slightly above the Austrian average.

The results highlight significant inequality in the distribution of income within society. The richest 20% of the population have a disproportionately higher share of total income compared to the poorest 20%, indicating a clear need for poverty reduction measures. The figures on groups at risk of poverty and disposable income, supplemented by the current celebration of the MK, show that these issues are of outstanding importance for the community and the poorer sections, not least with regard to social participation, as well Tirol.gv.at analyzed.
