Doping in the gym: young people in the grip of miracle weapons”!

The bodybuilding scene is increasingly becoming an international arena for doping, recent reports reveal. Anabolic steroids and steroids are no longer just a problem in professional sports, but have also taken gyms by storm. These illegal substances are particularly popular among young people, which leads to worrying health risks such as: crown reported. The pursuit of a perfect body has led many to resort to forbidden means to achieve visible results without years of training.

A comprehensive study by Prof. Alessandro Donati for the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) reveals the shocking dimensions of the doping trade worldwide. Every year, around 15.5 million people in certain regions, including North America and Western Europe, are estimated to be consistent drug users. Bodybuilders, gym goers and security guards in particular make up the largest proportion of users - between 38 and 40 percent of doping substances are used by them, as the report shows DOSB revealed. The study indicates that global doping drug sales reach $2 billion and much is distributed through illegal channels, including through highly organized criminal networks.

Illegal doping structures and worrying trends

The research reveals that the demand for doping substances is not only limited to high-performance sport, but also extends to broad sections of society. Therefore, the risk of these substances being distributed via the Internet and illegal laboratories in Asia is increasing. Donati describes that the Russian mafia has long since taken over the helm of doping distribution and that numerous doping substances come from illegal production facilities in Eastern Europe to Western Europe and North America. Particularly worrying is the accusation that pharmaceutical companies are inadequately addressing the misuse of their products and continue to ignore it in the face of a lucrative market.

It can be said that the spread of doping is not just a sports problem, but also has serious health consequences for society as a whole. The pressure on young people to be efficient and attractive could further fuel the abuse of anabolic steroids and other substances.
