Ruud van Nistelrooy: Disappointed about leaving Manchester United!
Ruud van Nistelrooy, Manchester United's former interim manager, is disappointed and hurt at his departure from the club. Following the appointment of Ruben Amorim as the new head coach, the Dutch football star was forced to end his time at United despite boasting a successful record of four games unbeaten. “I was very disappointed and it hurt to have to leave,” van Nistelrooy admitted to reporters.
The 48-year-old, who was unveiled as Leicester City's new coach on Friday, said Amorim's decision to bring his own assistants was understandable. “I spoke to Ruben Amorim, the conversation was grateful, man to man, coach to coach, and that helped me a lot to keep going,” he said. Van Nistelrooy, who scored 150 goals during his time at United, is ready to help Leicester fight relegation.
A new beginning in Leicester
Van Nistelrooy's appointment came as a surprise as he received numerous offers after his short time at United. “I was a little surprised at the number of coaching offers I received after playing in Manchester,” he said. He has previous coaching experience with PSV and the Netherlands U19 national team, but the response to his time at United has been overwhelming.
The focus now turns to Leicester City, who face West Ham United on Tuesday. Van Nistelrooy is determined to save the club, currently in 16th place, from relegation. “I know what it means to fight,” he emphasized, recalling that his first three years as a professional took place in Dutch football. The fans can be excited to see how the new coach will perform in the Premier League!
