FCK celebrates 125 years – big anniversary program starts now!
1. FC Kaiserslautern will celebrate its 125th anniversary in 2025. To mark this remarkable anniversary, those responsible have planned an extensive program with numerous highlights until autumn. Wolfgang Erfurt, the chairman of the board, and Daniel Stich, the head of the organizing committee, presented the timetable for the festivities on January 7, 2025. The celebrations are aimed at all FCK supporters, including season ticket holders, members and employees.
The planned highlights include a big fan festival on June 2nd and a club festival on June 14th. An anniversary game against a well-known opponent will be played in the second half of July. An anniversary jersey will also be presented. An interactive family exhibition entitled “Football Fever – Football History(s) from Rhineland-Palatinate” starts in April in the former Gondrophone building. This exhibition is scheduled to remain open until at least October and the FCK's visibility in the city will be increased through club logos and foiling along important streets.
Festivities and special games
The fan festival on June 2nd will take place in the fan hall of the Norbert Thines North Stand and will attract top-class guests from sports, politics and culture. The club festival on June 14th in the Fröhnerhof sports park will include the presentation of all departments of the main club. Games are also planned, including a match between the Lotto team against the traditional FCK team as well as a fan club tournament and a game by the women's team. The FCK will be present at the Lautrer Old Town Festival from July 4th to 6th and will provide a stage on which personalities from the club's history will appear.
In addition, 1. FC Kaiserslautern will celebrate the 20th anniversary of its championship as a promoted team on September 8th. This event will be honored with a charity game under the motto “Homecoming of the Heroes – 20 Years of the Miracle of Betze” in the Fritz Walter Stadium. The then champion team under coach Otto Rehhagel will compete against the “German Football Legends” team led by Mario Basler. The organizers announced these details on Monday in Ludwigshafen. This is happening in a phase in which 1. FC Kaiserslautern is on the verge of a possible relegation to the 3rd league for the first time. Coach Otto Rehhagel was pleased about the upcoming reunion with his former team.
