Young coach Tim Richter: Passion for football ignited in Wismar!
Wismar.Unbelievable but true: Tim Richter, just 17 years old, has been the coach of the Wismar police sports club for four years! He coaches the D-youth with full commitment and plays in the A-youth himself. A real all-rounder who lives out his passion for football in his free time on a voluntary basis!
“After school we go straight to the pitch,” explains Tim, who comes home around 8 p.m. every day. He inherited his enthusiasm for football from his father, who took him to Hansa Rostock games as a child. “The atmosphere in the stadium just grabbed me!” enthuses Tim. He doesn't have any sporting role models, but follows his own path.
A trainer with heart and mind
Tim is not only a trainer, but also a role model for his students. To gain respect, he relies on a mixture of friendship and clear statements. “It’s important that the kids take me seriously, even if I’m just a few years older,” says Tim. PSV President Lothar Birzer praises the young coach and emphasizes how difficult it is to attract committed young people to referee and coach positions.
The PSV is the largest sports club in Wismar with around 700 members. Football is the most popular sport, but athletics, basketball and boxing are also represented. The club is investing heavily in modernizing its sports facility to meet the needs of its members. “We need more space to channel all the enthusiasm,” says Birzer. The future of the club depends on committed young people like Tim, who are ready to take on responsibility and pass on their passion for the sport.
