Help for poor children: Christmas joy through the shooting star”!
The poverty rate in Saxony-Anhalt is alarmingly high: one in four children is affected. A remarkable step to support poor families is being taken by the “Sternschnuppe” association of the Child Protection Association. Here, families not only receive help with their children's homework, but also in dealing with problems in everyday life. The situation becomes particularly serious at Christmas time, when financial bottlenecks are even more noticeable MDR reported.
In order to bring some Christmas joy to the children and their families, the “Sternschnuppe” association baked cookies and sang songs before the holidays. Daniela Liedmann, head of the Mansfeld-Südharz Child Protection Association, emphasizes the importance of this initiative: "Here the children are seen. The children play and learn." There are also many wish Christmas trees in the region with pieces of paper with children's wishes hanging on them. This system allows people to directly contribute to improving the living situation of these children, as on the site Child Protection Association is explained.
Research shows that poverty in Saxony-Anhalt is strongly correlated with unemployment. Many people cannot find employment, which further worsens the financial situation of families. This represents a particular challenge, especially at Christmas time, a time that is often associated with joy and gifts. The association's actions can create rays of hope and show how important it is to provide support for disadvantaged children.
