Massive hygiene deficiencies: Illegal butcher shop in Vienna-Ottakring closed!

In a dramatic operation, the authorities in Vienna busted an illegal butcher shop. This was located in the premises of a former pharmacy in Ottakring, where around 200 kilograms of meat were seized. The control group, led by the Immediate Measures group and supported by the Vienna Public Employment Service (AMS), discovered serious hygienic deficiencies in both the butcher shop and the associated van. The company also did not have a valid operating facility permit, the Immediate Action group said in a press release, adding gasoline to the fire of illegal practices ORF reported.

The market office's food control units were immediately activated to take samples of the suspected meat. These samples are now being examined for health risks by the Agency for Health and Food Security (AGES). At the same time, the suppliers who were supplied by the illegal butcher shop were also examined. All quantities of meat found are destroyed in accordance with regulations to protect the health of consumers. Walter Hillerer, the head of the immediate measures group, emphasizes: "The health of consumers has top priority. Anyone who endangers people's health with illegal butcher shops will sooner or later be held accountable." OTS reported.

Officially he was on sick leave, which further complicated the situation and highlighted the abuses in this illegal company.
