In the early hours of the morning, a violent fire broke out in an attic apartment on Staufenring in Ulm. The emergency services were alerted around half past six when the flames were already shooting several meters high out of the window. Two residents suffered smoke inhalation and had to be taken to hospital. The fire department responded quickly and around 30 firefighters were on site to fight the fire. Several people had made it outside wearing only their pajamas as they waited for their accommodation in a fire department minibus in freezing temperatures.
