Two accidents in Gries am Brenner: Injuries and traffic chaos!
On February 15, 2025, a serious accident occurred in Gries am Brenner, Tyrol at 12:45 p.m. A 46-year-old Pole wanted to turn his car from the A13 onto the Brenner federal road (B182) when there was a collision with the vehicle of a 75-year-old Austrian who was driving on the B182 towards Italy. The Austrian's passenger, his wife, was injured in the collision and had to be taken by ambulance to Hall Hospital in Tyrol. The Polish driver's son was also taken to hospital for medical treatment for unspecified injuries. The two damaged vehicles were no longer drivable and were removed by a local towing service. The accident recording led to traffic jams in both directions, as shown on fireworld.at reported.
Another serious incident occurred on October 20, 2024, when a 41-year-old German citizen lost control of his vehicle while overtaking on the Brenner Federal Road. He left the road, broke through a wooden fence and slid across an adjacent field before the car came to a stop about three meters below the road in the Sill stream bed. Fortunately, the driver, his 38-year-old partner and their seven-year-old son were able to get out of the vehicle independently and were uninjured. Although they were in shock, they refused medical examination at Hall District Hospital. The Gries am Brenner volunteer fire department secured the vehicle to prevent it from slipping further. During the rescue work, the B182 was temporarily only passable in one lane, as shown on meinkreis.at documented.
